The International Green Construction Code was approved at the end of November. The final code will be published in March of 2012. South Carolina will have to adopt the code prior to its enforcement in our state. This code applies to all new and renovated commercial buildings and residential buildings over three stories high. It sets mandatory baseline standards for all aspects of building design and construction, including energy and water efficiency, site impacts, building waste, and materials. Though the code claims to not replace LEED, it is an equivalent practicum of the same sustainable items minus the point system. This may be the solution to those agencies that want to design to LEED (sustainability) but not apply for the LEED status.
We have a copy of the Public Version of the code. Please contact DWG if you would like a free copy
