Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Protection, and Communications Consulting Engineering
DWG Inc. provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection engineering and construction services for the design of a new 62,000 square-feet athletic training building to house trainer and coaching offices, locker rooms and training rooms.
The project achieved LEED Gold Certification. The building, as part of a larger campus system, gained LEED points for alternative transportation options. The building’s roof and site are both designed to lessen the heat island effect, and water efficient landscaping will be utilized. Water use has been reduced by the installation of low-flow showerheads. The mechanical conditioning for the building was provided by a chilled water system consisting of an air-cooled chiller and gas-fired boilers. Control systems were provided to regulate energy use and a measurement and verification plan will be implemented. Outdoor air was supplied in accordance with ASHRAE guidelines.
