DWG Consulting Engineers’ Bre Penrod Recognized as 2025 Women of Influence Honoree by the Charleston Regional Business Journal

Charleston, SC – DWG Consulting Engineers is proud to announce that Electrical Engineer Bre Penrod, P.E., has been named a 2025 Women of Influence honoree by the Charleston Regional Business Journal.

Women of Influence honors high-achieving women for their career accomplishments. These women are selected based on their professional experience, community involvement, and commitment to mentoring. The honorees were chosen by a panel of judges, including prior year honorees, and the Charleston Regional Business Journal editorial staff.

“The 2025 Women of Influence are trailblazers who are committed to professional excellence. They enrich our communities by inspiring change, and they generously give of their time to mentor others,” said Jason Thomas, executive editor of SC Biz News/Charleston Regional Business Journal. “These inspirational women are making a difference in the lives of many, and we at the Charleston Regional Business Journal congratulate these outstanding leaders.”

Penrod has been part of DWG since 2018, advancing from intern to Professional Engineer. Over her six years with the firm, she has led projects that have delivered a meaningful impact to communities across the Lowcountry. Her work includes the Park Circle Community Center, home to the world’s most inclusive playground, medical office buildings such as Point Hope MOB and East Cooper MOB that expand access to healthcare, and cultural spaces like the Dorchester Heritage Center.

Beyond her engineering work, Penrod is deeply committed to giving back. She actively volunteers with Dorchester Paws, the Lowcountry Food Bank, the American Heart Association, and Big Brothers Big Sisters. She also mentors students through Alpha Xi Delta sorority and STEM outreach programs, helping young women explore careers in engineering. Inside DWG, she serves on the firm’s five-year Strategic Planning Committee, contributing to the company’s growth and culture.

“Bre leads with purpose and heart,” said Brian Bates, president of DWG Consulting Engineers. “Her projects don’t just shape buildings, they strengthen communities. We’re proud to celebrate her recognition as a Woman of Influence.”

Penrod earned her Professional Engineer license in 2024 and holds a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering from Kansas State University.

The 2025 Women of Influence Awards will be held Oct. 10 at The Francis Marion Hotel in Charleston. Honorees will also be profiled in a special publication distributed at the event and online at CharlestonBusiness.com.
