DWG provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection engineering services for Bastin Hall, the new home of The Citadel's Tommy and Victoria Baker School of Business. This three-story, 44,000-square-foot facility features 11 classrooms, seven break and workrooms, three work areas for students and faculty, 35 faculty offices, an advising center, large common areas, a rooftop terrace, and specialized labs, including finance, sales, and innovation learning labs. The mechanical design included an air-cooled chiller, variable-speed air handlers, and electric heat VAV terminal units, all of which were controlled by a DDC control system. The plumbing system featured new domestic water distribution and water-efficient fixtures. Fire protection design incorporated a fire pump supported by an emergency generator. The electrical systems included LED lighting throughout, horizontal cabling for voice, data, and security systems, as well as a comprehensive fire alarm system. All designs were coordinated with The Citadel's campus standards. Bastin Hall is the first new academic building on the Citadel’s campus in over 30 years. The facility's modern design and advanced technological features provide a state-of-the-art learning environment, supporting Citadel’s mission to develop principled business leaders.
