Project Description

DWG provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection engineering services for the expansion of Brooks Stadium at Coastal Carolina University in Conway, South Carolina. This two-phase project increased the stadium's seating capacity to up to 21,000 seats, aligning with NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision requirements. The expansion included the addition of premium suites, enhanced restroom facilities, new concession stands, and a continuous concourse design to improve spectator flow and accessibility. Mechanical design featured units with hot gas reheat for effective dehumidification control and localized exhaust systems for group restrooms. The plumbing scope encompassed the installation of cast-iron waste and vent piping, copper domestic water piping, and instantaneous water heaters serving restrooms and concession areas. Electrical design incorporated low-voltage systems and a mass notification system to enhance safety and communication throughout the facility. DWG's engineering solutions contributed to the successful completion of the stadium expansion, providing enhanced amenities and infrastructure to support the university's athletic programs and fan engagement.
