Project Description

DWG provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and telecommunications engineering services for a new facility at Lind Point on St. John, replacing existing buildings damaged by Hurricanes Maria and Irma. The project included an approximately 6,000-square-foot artifacts storage and office facility, along with approximately 6,000 square feet of residential housing. The new buildings were designed to withstand Category 5 hurricane-force winds. The site presented a range of challenges including saltwater corrosion, potential flooding, hurricane-related impacts, high utility costs, and limited maintenance resources. Sustainable design strategies were incorporated, including solar power, solar water heating, cistern water collection and utilization, and high-efficiency HVAC systems.
