At the end of the $3 million pier, in 12 feet of water, is an artificial reef to attract fish and a tackle shop where a police substation also is housed. Specific design included: electrical design for lighting and general-purpose receptacles to serve the pier; plumbing design to provide water to the fish cleaning sink(s) and/or Bait Stations; and fire protection design to provide a backflow preventer at the head of the pier and fire-fighting hose stations at intervals.
