Project Description

Pacific Box and Crate, a multi-use development in Charleston’s evolving Upper Peninsula, was originally designed in collaboration with the Middleton Group. It is now undergoing significant renovation to support its changing needs and future growth. DWG is providing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering services for the ongoing renovation of this mixed-use building. DWG’s scope includes infrastructure to support new restaurant tenants, such as a grease trap system and accommodations for tenant-provided kitchen hoods and exhaust ductwork, all integrated into the existing building systems. Our team has presented multiple power delivery strategies to the owner, exploring both single and separately metered service options to balance functionality, tenant flexibility, and installation efficiency. Coordination with Dominion Energy has confirmed that all electrical meters must be located outside the building, which has become a key driver in our electrical design, impacting service routing, meter placement, and overall system configuration. This renovation reflects a thoughtful integration of updated infrastructure within the existing building framework, ensuring long-term performance and adaptability.
